- The Centre for Special Education at Colaba (CCSE)set up in 1973 was the first
special school in India for children with cerebral palsy, providing education and
treatment under one roof.
- CCSE commenced opened with three children and presently provides
education and treatment facilities to 62 children.
- CCSE follows the Maharashtra Board Secondary School Certificate
academic curriculum, and is recognised as such by the Board.
- Prior to the opening of the Centre at Bandra,
CCSE was a secondary school providing services from pre-nursery to SSC. The first
graduates from the school were in 1983. Today the school provides education upto class V,
after which the children go to the Bandra Centre.
- CCSE follows regular curriculur and extra-curricular activities
including celebration of all events and functions, excursions and visits. With the
evolving focus of the Society towards the promotion of inclusive education or
mainstreaming, the Centre identifies places and follows up students who are placed in
mainstream schools.
